Boy with No Name

I created this piece from a portrait of a student. I had been doing a portrait printmaking unit
with students and students took pictures of themselves, in which they then turned into linocuts. This image
transcends a universal feeling across all time periods-sadness. In “Kindred,” Rufus was abused and
emotionally neglected long before he grew into an abusive person himself. Before he was a monster of a man,
he was a sad little boy. Revenge grows from deep hurt, and because of that hurt, he became the man he did.
